school. It's a great school by Korean private English school
standards. I am in charge of the hiring process so you will deal
directly with me. I can also put you in contact with other teachers
currently teaching at the school and former teachers if you want. I
can answer all your questions honestly, without any language
barriers. Here's the job description:
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, energetic
person who loves teaching. Here's your chance to join a successful, school
with the opportunity to improve your skills as a teacher and enjoy
Korean culture. This is a great first job in Korea. Former teachers
have gone on to teach for korean universities, international schools
in Thailand and government programs such as GEPIK.
The school: 21st Century ELI, established in 1999 in Gyeryong (15 minutes from Daejeon), is a
private institute specializing in English as a foreign language for
children from elementary school to middle school and also offers a
few adult classes. Over the past nine years our school has grown
steadily in both enrollment and reputation. The school is doing very
well financially and in two years teaching here we have always been
paid in-full and on time. At present, our staff includes four native
English teachers and five Korean teachers. We have a friendly work
environment while maintaining a professional atmosphere for teaching.
Start Date: March, 2008
Working Conditions:
- Five-day work week (Monday through Friday).
- No Saturdays or split shifts. Teachers start teaching at 3 or 4 pm and the last class ends at 8, 9 or 10 pm.
- No Kindergarten.
- Less than 110 contract hours per month (Class hour :50 min).
- Class size: max. 12.
- Student's age ranges mostly from elementary school to middle school. We also offer two adult classes.
- Curriculum: Set curriculum provided.
- Teaching materials: All teaching materials are provided.
- Contract term: One year, renewable.
Benefits
- Monthly Salary: 2.1 - 2.3 million won per month (commensurate with experience and/or qualifications).
- Free housing: Fully-furnished single(unshared) apartment (12 minutes walk to school).
- Free round trip airfare provided.
- Medical insurance: Employer will contribute 50% towards national health insurance.
- Pension: Employer will contribute 4.5% of salary towards the national pension plan.
- Bonus: One month salary upon completion of the one-year-contract.
- 10 days paid vacation in addition to all national holidays.

Requirements:
- Native English speaker (from US / Canada / UK / Australia / New Zealand / Ireland / South Africa).
- BA/BS degree any major accepted.
- TESOL/TEFL certification is an asset.
- Teaching experience preferred, but not necessary.
- Enthusiasm for teaching and working with children.
